Snowy Owls

Welcome to Snowy Owls

Class 3 – Year 5 and 6

Teacher: Mrs C Jefferson

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Hanson, Mrs Ruthwell and Mrs Haynes

We are a fantastic class of 19 children.

Here you will find all the information about the exciting learning and plans we have in store for the term ahead:

This term we are reading the book MOTH: An Evolution Story by Isabel Thomas. We will be using this book to inspire poetry, following the incredible journey of evolution by the peppered moth. Children will learn about natural selection and adaptation and how humans have influenced how these creatures have evolved over time.

Children will be consolidating the methods needed to solve questions that include the four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also be looking at working with fractions and making links between decimals and percentages.

In science, we will be learning about Electricity and Light. During the first half of the term children will be thinking about where electricity comes from and how it is made. They will then work scientifically to create series circuits and explore how they work. Children will create accurate drawings to depict their circuits using the correct scientific symbols to show the electrical components they have used.

This term the children have been working alongside the Conquest Theatre in Bromyard to create their own performance of, ‘James and the Giant Peach’. The children had great fun performing on stage to all their friends and family; the audience was full!
