At Bredenbury Primary School we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice. The procedures contained in this policy apply to all staff, whether temporary, permanent or volunteers and governors.
Bredenbury Primary School has a duty of care and responsibility towards pupils, parents/carers and staff. The care and safety of the individual is the key issue behind this document.
We will endeavour to protect children from maltreatment: preventing impairment of children’s health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking actions to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
Where a child is suffering significant harm, or is likely to do so, action should be taken to protect that child. Action should also be taken to promote the welfare of a child in need of additional support, even if they are not suffering harm or are at immediate risk.
